Boxed arrived a little banged up, but the batter was fine. I didn't time how long it took to charge, but it came empty so I'd guess a minimum of 5 hours (especially since I plugged it in my computer before switching to an outlet). I have yet to figure out the button but from a few limited uses, it turns on and off automatically, and the lights tell you how much juice you have left. I think pressing the button switches between the two plugs but haven't experimented fully, I might have to google for
